The proud courier girl
Translated from English into Albanian

Vajza korriere

Unë porosinë e dëshmorit e çoja tek i madhi Zot,
The proud courier girl
I used to steal flowers from the neighbouring courtyard!
I stealthily visited it in the absence of the guard.
A particular rosebush was my favourite.
Big red roses the bush had on it.
I used to offer the petals with prayers to my lord!
And asked for his forgiveness as I had stolen them from the neighbouring courtyard.
And one day as I was plucking a few,
My eyes fell on the epitaph shining clear in the morning dew.
It read, “Here lies the bravest of the brave”
I soon realised that the bush grew on a martyr’s grave.
He had not ceased to be the God’s favourite even in another world.
And had strangely hired me to offer his prayers to the lord.
I came running back with tears rolling down my cheeks like the white pearls.
And the truth dawned on me !
That by taking the offerings of the Martyr to the Almighty, I had become the proud courier girl.
